The timing could not have worked out better. Cherry blossom season in Seattle is short and unpredictable, which makes planning around it a bit of a gamble. I’m so thankful Ana and Kyle were open to being flexible and moving their session up a couple of days. That decision made all the difference. We were rewarded with the most beautiful spring weather and soft, glowing light as the sun set behind the trees.
From the moment we started, everything felt effortless. The Arboretum was filled with soft pink blooms, lush greenery, and just enough golden light to create that dreamy, romantic feel. It’s one of the reasons I love recommending this location for Seattle engagement photos, especially for couples who want something natural and vibrant without feeling overly staged.
One of my favorite parts of this session was how easily we were able to create variety. Within a short walk, we captured wide scenic shots under the cherry blossoms, as well as more intimate moments tucked along quieter paths. That balance is key when building a full gallery that tells a complete story, and the Washington Park Arboretum always delivers in that way.
The light that evening was especially memorable. As the sun started to dip, it created a soft glow filtering through the trees, adding warmth and depth to every image. It was one of those perfect spring evenings that you really can’t plan, but when it happens, it elevates everything.
When planning Seattle engagement photos, I always encourage couples to think about both the look and the experience. The Arboretum offers not only a stunning backdrop, but also a relaxed environment where couples can truly enjoy the moment together. That natural connection always comes through in the photos.
Another reason I love this location is how versatile it is. While cherry blossoms are the highlight in spring, the Arboretum is beautiful year-round. Whether it’s summer greens, fall colors, or even moody winter tones, it remains one of the best spots for Seattle engagement photos.
Ana and Kyle brought such an easygoing and fun energy to their session, which made my job that much more enjoyable. We focused on capturing real moments, guiding them just enough so everything felt natural and true to who they are as a couple.
For couples who are planning both their engagement session and wedding, I always recommend thinking about how everything ties together. If you’re looking for wedding inspiration, you can explore this Palm Springs wedding at the Cree Estate.

Sessions like this are a perfect reminder of why I love what I do. Capturing Seattle engagement photos during cherry blossom season is always special, but sharing that experience with couples like Ana and Kyle makes it even more meaningful.
I’m already looking forward to continuing their story and photographing their wedding at Trinity Tree Farm this summer. It’s going to be such an incredible day.
