A little bit of rain and overcast skies didn’t keep us from getting some great photos at the engagement shoot of Lacey and Brandon! Fortunately, it stopped raining just before we started shooting, which kept the lovely couple from getting wet and created a neat atmosphere out on the water. It actually wound up feeling like something out of The Notebook, to be honest!

I met Lacey through Keisha, my second shooter. We began the shoot over at Lacey’s aunt’s lake house in Shelton, Washington. Her aunt was kind enough to let us borrow a canoe, which totally made the shots. I love when my couples want to do something unique, and I have to say, doing a shoot in a canoe was definitely a first for me!

When we were done at her aunt’s lake house we went just down the street to Lake Limerick. There I was able to get some awesome, detailed shots of the ring.

Photographers tend to have differing opinions about ring shots. For me, it’s always a challenge to think about how to get good shots of a ring without being boring or cliché. Fortunately, we were able to find a lot of cool-looking moss and pinecones, which added some unique elements to the photos.

Thank you to Lacey and Brandon for allowing me to take part in their shoot!
