For my most recent wedding shoot, I had the opportunity to go back to one of my very favorite venues: Trinity Tree Farm. I have shot a lot of weddings there, and have always loved working with Brittny from Trinity. I’ll even be shooting another wedding there next month!
This time around, the beautiful couple was Michael and Kylie, who met while studying at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Kylie was studying business administration, while Michael was studying fire science and receiving his paramedic certificate (he is now a firefighter).
The two got engaged in Alaska in June 2014 while on a hike, being the adventurous couple they are. They even plan to do a lot of hiking on their honeymoon!
When I first met Michael and Kylie, I knew immediately that we would hit it off. I came home from our meeting thinking “I really hope they book,” not just because I wanted to be their photographer, but because I really wanted to get to know them. They are a really cool, really sweet couple, and it’s been wonderful spending time with them!
On the day of their wedding, both Kylie and Michael were as chill and relaxed as could be! Kylie even did her own hair and makeup, and it looked absolutely beautiful.
Kylie had family from Alaska and all over the country. Her best friend and one of her maids of honor came all the way from England, spending three weeks here to prepare her for her special day!
One of my favorite moments of the wedding was when Michael was surprised by a group of his firefighter friends at the reception with a number of gifts, including a firefighter helmet that had the number “148,” the station at which his grandfather was a firefighter himself. It was an emotional, unique moment I will always remember.
The whole day I kept telling myself how lucky I was to be able to do photography and continually make such great friends. I loved both of their families; they were so kind and grateful both to me and my second photographer, Keisha. They made us feel welcome and a part of the family.
I can’t wait to see the types of adventures Kylie and Michael will go on now as husband and wife!
