I’ve photographed lots of weddings in the PNW. But this time, I got to travel all the way to Mexico! I was honored when Ameera and Ben, who are now good friends of mine, asked me to capture their special day at Casa Mariposa in Cabo San Lucas. It was a smaller, more intimate wedding than they’d originally planned, and it was absolutely perfect.
Before the wedding day, the couple and their families invited wedding guests to a welcome dinner at Villa del Arco. The resort is right on Medano Beach with incredible views of the water. Everyone was staying at Villa del Arco, so it was the perfect place to meet up. I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the festivities!
The wedding venue was equally stunning. On the day of Ameera and Ben’s wedding, we arrived at Casa Mariposa and were immediately blown away by how gorgeous it is. The stone fountains, iron gates and private pools were all so incredible. The villa even has steps leading straight down to the beach!
When we got there, we were greeted by the amazing Susana Flores, the wedding coordinator who pulled the whole day together. She brought along Catering to Cabo, which served us the most delicious food at Ameera and Ben’s reception. Susana was such a delight to work with!
Really, all the vendors were amazing. Carlos Rivera furnished the venue, and Carolina from Emporio decorated it with these beautiful flowers and candles. Alex Murillo and David Flores, the singer and guitarist, did a great job setting the tone for the ceremony. I also really enjoyed working with Brian again, who has his own videography studio called Peak Productions. Brian and I worked together at another wedding in Seattle and so looking forward to working on more weddings together!
Ameera and Ben had their first look at the iconic stone arch that opens up to the white sand. There wasn’t a dry eye on the beach! Everyone was so overcome with joy to see how much Ameera and Ben love each other. I’m so grateful I got to be there to capture the moment.
The couple also decided to exchange vows at their first look. Casa Mariposa’s famous arch was the perfect place to share a private moment together..
The ceremony was truly magical. Ameera and Ben got married right on the beach of Casa Mariposa in Cabo San Lucas. The sands were almost as white as Ameera’s dress! Their ceremony had the most beautiful backdrop with the blue ocean and sky. The couple stood alongside Joel Taylor, the ceremony officiant, beneath a wooden frame decked out with white flowers and tapestries.
The magic continued long into the evening as guests made their way to the reception. Ameera and Ben shared their first dance under a dazzling fireworks display courtesy of Javier Herrera. Special shout out goes to Gilberto Barajas for bringing his mariachi band! There was also Ricardo Patiño, the super awesome DJ who kept everyone dancing all night long.
Thank you so much, Ameera and Ben! It was an honor to be part of your wedding and so grateful that I got to visit Casa Mariposa in Cabo San Lucas. An extra special thank you goes out to Toysan, Ameera’s mom, for making the entire day possible. I love you guys!
