I’ve known Taylor since 2002, when we were both attending Spokane Falls Community College. He and his now-wife Shelsey live in San Diego, so we don’t get to see each other too frequently any more, but it’s always a blast when we do.
When Taylor and Shelsey asked me to be their wedding photographer, I was, of course, extremely excited. But truth be told, I was also a little nervous, because Taylor is an extremely talented photographer in his own right!
Despite these small concerns, the experience was absolutely wonderful. We all flew to Maui to celebrate their wedding. It was a very small and intimate celebration, with just family members and a couple close friends.
The ceremony took place at the gorgeous Royal Lahaina resort. It was short and sweet—the officiant even brought in a couple native Hawaiian traditions to make it an extra-special occasion. One of my favorites was when Taylor put a lei around Shelsey’s neck, and then she did the same to him. It was a really sweet touch to the ceremony that fit perfectly with the Hawaiian backdrop!
After the ceremony, we took a few sunset photos, then headed off to a delicious dinner at Son’z Steakhouse.
It’s always nice to be included in the celebration of really good friends. I love to be able to capture these special moments and know that they will be able to revisit them for years to come. Thanks to Taylor and Shelsey for having me, and best wishes for a long and happy marriage!
