Charles and Felipe have been together for nearly 14 years, so their wedding has been a long time coming. It finally happened this past Labor Day weekend, and it was a beautiful wedding full of joy, tears and laughter!
The two got ready at the Posh boutique hotel in Pike Place Market – Inn at the Market. They had stunning views of the sound and Olympic mountains. I do love shooting new venues, and I have to say that Sodo Park (the site of the ceremony) did not disappoint! The lighting was incredibly beautiful during the ceremony, and it was transformed into a truly elegant reception by the wonderful and talented MG Davis Events and Rusty Blackwood Design afterward.
Both of the grooms had family and friends come from near and far to make this wedding day extra special. Felipe’s mom and sisters came from Guadalajara, Mexico. It was a very special moment indeed when she blessed the both of them during the ceremony in Spanish.
Another special moment during the ceremony occurred when some of the guys from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles sang for the couple. Charles used to sing with them when he was a member of the chorus himself. They sounded amazing, and it was a wonderful personal touch!
And of course, everyone who attended the wedding loved the Lasso, a Mexican wedding tradition. A rope is placed around the couple’s shoulders in the form of an infinity symbol, after they have exchanged their vows, to symbolize an eternal union. While this is typically done by the wedding officiant, it can also be done by family members. In this case, Charles and Felipe’s sisters put the Lasso on, and it remained on them for the rest of the ceremony.
There were so many wonderful friends and family members there, and both of their big hearts were on display. They even took the time to make an announcement during the reception to thank not just the guests, but the vendors who made their wedding day so special. It touched my heart to receive this thank you!
